New ART Monday!

“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”  -Ronald Dahl

Another FULL week!

The grass is greener, the trees are sprouting!  We are all celebrating the start of a beautiful, warm, spring in Bozeman, MT!  🙂 🙂 🙂  I can’t wait to get outside to paint!  I am almost set-up, so expect some paintings en plein air next blog!

This past week I started a few new paintings, finished one Monument, and had a great time collaborating with students at Hawthorne Elementary to paint their Cornhole boards for the Celebration of the Arts!  To top the week off, we had a sun-filled class at Dry Hills Distilleries’ Sip and Paint night (call them to sign up for our next one on June 1st)!

Enjoy the gallery!

Don’t forget to get your mini-artists signed up for summer camp!

Until next week!

New Work Monday!

Monday Morning!

New Week, New Artwork is evolving!

This past week I returned from the amazing beaches of Hawaii to a beautiful, albeit chillier Montana Spring.

Back to the studio and my “Dear Universe” series of paintings…

My first markings on this painting, “Dear Universe, THANK YOU…”  There is so much to be thankful for and it is so nice to pause to do so.

This BLUE inspired ocean scene filled with gratitude is starting to come together.

I’m dreaming of the ocean waves and the warm, salty waters of Kauai where I was sitting at this moment one week ago!

Thankful for time to enjoy the powerful impact of the ocean.

“Going with the flow” seems to be a more fierce a statement while watching the ocean tides and roaring waves compared to sitting near a cool, calm stream.

Nevertheless, smoothly inspired  persistence and patience seems to be reigning at the top of my current life’s ponderings.

Cheers to another week filled with flow friends.  Crashing waves or spring melt…may we all find a pace that gets us where we’re going.  🙂

“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” Dali Lama

New Week, New Artwork AND NEW Adventures!

This week is exceptionally exciting!

  • ~New Artwork filled with bright spring-inspired YELLOW (my favorite).
  • ~WILD new adventures (both inward and physically…I’ll very literally be taking one step at a time).

I am running my first 50k in Monument Valley, AZ THIS Saturday!

“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.”  Dali Lama

I’m going!  New place (Monument Valley) and plenty of new adventures await…

I am overflowing with nervous excitement and anticipation…this painting filled with light and a dash of chaos feels like my inner self.

My honest reasons for taking on this challenge are layered, as are my paintings.

For me, it’s about being comfortable in the uncomfortable.  Patient throughout the journey.  Slow down to go further, simplify.  Don’t let your fears direct your focus.  Just breathe.  It’s okay to be terrified, just take it one step at a time and find beautiful things to celebrate along the way.  Be kind and reasonably selfish in goals and training…find and cultivate my own inner strength, mental fortitude… and I have no doubt that the journey itself will uncover many more learning opportunities.

Why a 50K?!  🙂  WHY NOT!

Honestly the thought alone terrified me, mystified me, and challenged me in ways I have yet to fully comprehend.  If it scared me THAT much, I obviously had to do it.

I have already grown in training, more personally and definitely endurance-wise.  I have an amazing support team of not only friends and family, but of the BEST PT at Lone Peak PT, unreal massage therapists, and the MOST inspirational BADASS running coach (and friend) a gal could ask for.  I’m dialed, I’ve done the work, I’ve put in hours and hours of miles…but more importantly, SO MUCH self-care.  These last few weeks have been slow.  Recovery based and time to feel good.  Crazy how difficult that is.

But!  May we all learn how to pause and how to slow down…in order to go further.

In a cool way, it feels like this journey (somewhat obviously) is paralleling my art and my life.  I’m excited to PAINT the blooming desert and to rumble with my own inner voice for a beautiful jog through the Valley.  Look for many, many new paintings coming soon!

Artsy Shark Featured Artist Article and new work this week.

Happily painting in my studio this week has been AMAZING.

I’ve started a new series entitled “Dear Universe…”

The new year offers new beginnings.

…and with it, many, many, more questions.

How do you process?!

I find painting it out works wonders.

Breath. of. fresh. air.

Add in some great music and my day is made.

So I’m writing questions, thoughts, dreams, pain, conflicts...and anything that comes to mind on my canvas.

…and then I paint!

Want to learn more about this process?!

In amazing serendipity, Artsy Shark published a Featured Artist article about me this very morning.  Take a look to here more about my process and my story.

I highly recommend to seek out a creative outlet, source of flow, place  of meditation.  Actively find and nurture your own peace.

Run, hike, move a barbell, sit in the sunshine, write, dance, rebuild a car, build a house, check out Headspace (I love it)!  Paint. 🙂

We all don’t have to find our place in the same way, and obviously change it up as necessary.

Once we can wrestle with our own darkness, the world is much more filled with light.  Shine from the inside out, as my wise sister has shown me…

Find the light dear friends.
